T4 Upgrade Testing
The DEV server has been upgraded now its our turn to start test it.
@Hugo Boucheny (Unlicensed) will be going throught some content type specific testing of the back of T4’s programable layout changes, however it would be great to have a bit of sanity testing.
This sanity testing can be undertaken by going through the published DEV server site (https://derbyacuk-cms01-test.terminalfour.net/ ) and checking for errors/comparing it to the pages currently live.
How to test the pages and what to watch out for:
Look out for any error messages.
These error messages will appear as plain text on the website, either in place of where the content type should appear or at the top of the page. (image showing example).
2. Compare the DEV server to the current LIVE site.
Pages between the new DEV site and LIVE site should be identical, so comparing the same pages on each site should reveal any abnormalities.
This can be done by replacing the derby.ac.uk url with derbyacuk-cms01-test.terminalfour.net as shown with the Account and Finance course page below.
Be aware: any content changes made to pages during the upgrading proccess, will not be reflected in the DEV
The main pages to watch out for are:
Course pages (especially edge cases e.g Postgraduate online short course begining in January)
Pattern and Image Heroes
Staff Profiles
Promos
Media Embeds
