How to add staff to a course in T4

This article will take you through the process of adding staff to a course within T4. The end result will be a sub-page from your course that lists academic staff that teach/contribute to the course. The list works by matching courses and staff profiles using staff numbers.

Instructions

  1. Firstly you will need a list of staff numbers for the academics on your course. You can find these by searching within the staff directory in Outlook/Outlook 365
  2. Open the section config content type within your course, add the staff numbers from step 1 in the Academics field as a comma separated list eg 781907, cacc306, sadm183, 782450, 785315 and save 
  3. In your site manager view find the following section home » www.derby.ac.uk » Work in Progress » Resource: adding staff to a course - if you don't see this please contact digitalsupport@derby.ac.uk 
  4. Duplicate the section called Staff to your course, selecting the duplicate content option
  5. Mirror the piece of content within the section called Staff list - mirror the content in this section into the section you duplicated in step 4
  6. Go into the section you duplicated in step 4, edit the pattern hero, update the following fields and save:
    1. Name of the content
    2. Heading adding your course name in
    3. Feature block adding a couple of sentences that are unique to your course. This is important as it introduces the content to the user and provides SEO value.
  7. Preview to check your list is working ok
  8. Approve your content and section


If an academic isn't pulling through to your listing it's probably down to the staff number not being set or correct on their staff profile. If you encounter this please email digitalsupport@derby.ac.uk stating the course, the missing academic(s) and their staff number(s).
