Linking to a specific Derby on Demand video in comms

You can add parameters to the end of the Derby on Demand URL to highlight a video. This will temporarily float the category the video is in to the top, make the video full-bleed and open the video modal when the page loads.

Note this should only be used in comms to users that have already signed up to Derby on Demand, as the URL contains the access code. Sharing these links wider will result in us losing out on data collection.

Creating your URL

For subject videos

If your video is tagged by subject please email digitalsupport@derby.ac.uk to request your link.

For all other videos

Your URL should follow the format, where the number in bold in changed to the id of the section containing the video you want to play:
https://www.derby.ac.uk/dod/?dod=Uqw3x2UzuFutYqwFmJSw&nosave=true&id=216299
To find the section id, open the section in T4 and you’ll see the number at the end of the url eg
https://t4.derby.ac.uk/terminalfour/page/section#edit/216299

Testing

Please test your urls to ensure that the right video is opening correctly. Once the url loads the parameters will be automatically removed from the address bar, this is intentional so the url can’t be shared. For example, here is a screenshot from loading
https://www.derby.ac.uk/dod/?dod=Uqw3x2UzuFutYqwFmJSw&nosave=true&id=216299
Note the url in the address bar reverts back to just derby.ac.uk/dod/
